Ford engineers put in a lot of work to ensure the next-generation 2015 Ford F-150 in Mesquite is better than its predecessor, and to keep it looking its best in years to come, the full-size truck now offers advanced sun protection to prevent fading. The new durable components provide years of protection against the sun's powerful rays and help eliminate damage from occurring over time. This is just one way Ford is working to prolong the lifespan of the model and satisfy their loyal fans, continuing the F-150's legacy as the best-selling truck in America.
To protect the 2015 Ford F-150 in Mesquite from harsh sunlight, the pickup truck was fitted with the least reflective materials possible, shield gauges, and an assortment of brims and brows to secure its features. Engineers were able to determine each of these parts were suitable for the F-150 after putting the truck through various lighting tests to identify key areas in need of sun protection throughout the interior. Using the Ford lighting lab, which utilizes 6,000 watts of light, they were able to replicate different forms of sunlight and study how they affected the car's components. This allowed them to figure out which areas were likely to receive the most direct sunlight and what materials to use in order to secure each section. The below video of the F-150 in the lighting lab shows a small portion of the testing the model had to endure in order to improve its sun protection. Take a quick look at it to get an idea of why the F-150 continues to be dominate the truck segment and then get ready for the truck's arrival later this year at Town East Ford - we look forward to showing it to you!
