The popular Ford Mustang was the best-selling sports car in the world during the first half of 2015, according to vehicle registration data collected from IHS Automotive. Available for the first time this year in over 100 markets across the globe, the legendary pony continues to be a success 51 years after its debut and praised by dedicated car enthusiasts everywhere.

Since Ford began offering the Mustang in additional markets for 2015, sales of the sports car have skyrocketed. Its introduction to China has been a huge success, with the model becoming one of the best-selling sports cars in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangdong. Europe is also currently awaiting the arrival of the first-ever right-hand-drive global models, which are currently being produced at the brand's Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Flat Rock, Mich. Running right on scheduled, Ford is slated to fulfill 2,000 preorders in the UK by this November and an additional 3,000 in the UK's fellow right-hand-drive market, Australia.

In the U.S., the Ford Mustang continues to be a favorite among drivers in the southwest region, with North American sales up 70 percent in August.
