
Remember the sun-drenched and play-filled days of summer camp when you were a child? Now your kids can have the same experience! Camp is a great way for children to stay active, make lifelong friends, learn new skills, gain self-confidence and embark on first-time adventures that they won't experience at home.
Now through Aug. 22, 2014, there are several unique summer camp options for children of nearly all ages right here in Mesquite. Check out a few of your choices below and, if you're interested, get your summer camp registration form here. Camps are offered in weekly sessions, so those who wish to participate must register by at least the Thursday before each week. The cost is $85 a week per camper (with the exception of Camp Rorie Galloway) and each camp takes place Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

BLAST Day Camp
BLAST stands for Bringing Leadership, Art and Sports Together, and that's exactly what this day camp does. A wide range of fun activities are included, such as games, swimming, crafts and special field trips. Details: For ages 6 to 12. Held at Florence, Evans and Rutherford Recreation Centers.
Teen Adventures & Public Service (TAPS) Camp
Young teens can participate in this public service based camp. They'll learn leadership skills and have an opportunity to earn community service hours for school - while having fun and making new friends! Details: For ages 12 to 15. Held at Dunford Recreation Center.
Mesquite All Star Sports Camp
Whether your child wants to learn a new sport or improve their skills, Mesquite All Star Sports Camp is the perfect choice. Along with offering a new sport each week, children also get to go on pool and field trips. Details: For ages 8 to 12. Held at Dunford Recreation Center.
Camp Rorie Galloway
This is one of the most action-packed camp options for kids in Mesquite and also one of the most popular. Activities include everything from archery, hiking and swimming to learning outdoor living skills and how to make crafts out of objects found in nature. Details: For ages 6 to 14; counselor in training program available for kids 15 to 17. $100 per week. Children must wear closed-toe shoes and bring the following items to camp every day: bug repellent, backpack, insulated cooler with lunch, water, snacks and extra clothes. Held at Camp Rorie Galloway.
