Ford has experienced its fair share of criticism over the years for its MyFord Touch infotainment system, and it seems that after much consideration, the automaker has finally decided to ditch the program and replace it with a brand-new system: SYNC 3. Slated to debut in 2016, the QNX-based program will present Ford owners with a high-quality, refined infotainment experience. With faster performance and an enhanced intuitive touchscreen, SYNC 3 is Ford's most innovative infotainment system to date.
Much more advanced than the current edition of MyFord Touch, SYNC 3 features seamless integration of AppLink and Siri Eyes-Free for owners with iPhones. The AppLink component allows drivers to utilize their smartphone's apps through the infotainment system, while Siri Eyes Free enables voice control with an iPhone device. Accompanying this feature is SYNC's exceptional voice recognition technology, which is more conversational than the tech found in MyFord Touch. The system's smartphone-like touchscreen, equipped with easy-to-use large buttons, can also be used in place of voice activation when needed. The high-contrast fonts make the touchscreen easily viewable and the background switches from light to dark depending on the time of day - a feature that is not currently available on MyFord Touch.
