For more than six decades, Car and Driver Magazine has tested all types of cars and provided consumers with resourceful information. Tests have been conducted on thousands of U.S. cars, averaging 400 a year. With more than 200 data points collected on each vehicle, it's an excellent resource within the auto industry.
Superb Innovation
Among many other core requirements for being named EV of the Year by Car and Driver Magazine is the fun and enjoyment of a car. And the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E meets the criteria in abundance. When Car and Driver Magazine compared it to other EV cars in the same class, the Mach-E was unmatched for its unique appeal and ground-breaking design. With its value and innovative distinctions, the Mach-E stands out the most.
Car and Driver Magazine was impressed by the design, performance, and price and determined the notable distinctions were impressive enough for the Mach-E to be named EV of the Year. The Mach-E met a high standard that Car and Driver Magazine described as "not too small, too slow or too expensive." They even went as far as to point out the driving dynamics. Specifically, the dynamics are more than enough to persuade buyers to embrace EV technology confidently.
Impressive Features
As far as the features go, Car and Driver Magazine recognized the innovation of the panoramic fix-glass roof, vertically oriented-center display, and cabin design as being unique. They also noticed the lack of any cost-cutting measures by Ford. The 15.5-inch screen with virtual buttons was another feature they were impressed by and the gear selector. Since there isn't double usage as a cruise control switch, there is much easier navigation for the driver. To say that Car and Driver magazine was thoroughly impressed with the functionality of the features with the Mach-E is an understatement.
