What are the Major Service Milestones?
To keep your vehicle at its best for many years to come, it is important to give the vehicle that boost that it needs to maintain a smooth, carefree driving operation. Whether you’re the proud owner of a rough and rugged F150 or have a sleek and stylish Fiesta, regular vehicle service is one of the most important things you can do to keep your vehicle in tip-top condition.
Major vehicle components wear down over time. Parts wear out and damage occurs to these parts, which affects the driving performance and the longevity of the car. Repairs are possible but often they may be expensive. Service tune-ups keep these components free from damage and operating their best, no matter the age of the vehicle. Every manufacturer recommends vehicles receive regular service. Refer to your owner’s manual to learn the exact schedule you should follow.
15,000-Mile Service
The first recommended service takes place at about 15,000 miles, or one-year after vehicle purchase, although the engine oil and the oil filter should've been changed before this visit. The technician will inspect the vehicle to ensure that all of the components are working properly underneath the hood, inspect the tires, and change the air filter and the coolants in the car. The air filter becomes clogged and causes decreased fuel efficiency, so this is a very important service!
30,000-Mile Service
At the 30,000-mile service, the tune-up includes the same services that were provided at the first service. These services are not one-time-only needs. It is important to keep the vehicle operating efficiently through regular service that keeps all of the components in the vehicle in good condition. The fuel filter is also changed. A dirty fuel filter causes the engine to malfunction! The technician will inspect the transmission oil and the filter and replace them if necessary. He'll also check the spark plugs and wires and change the coolants. Power steering fluid is also inspected at this tune-up.
60,000-Mile Service
This service includes the prior services, as well as an inspection of the vehicle's exterior. Rust and other damage can affect far more than the vehicle's appearance, but not when the problem is quickly detected by the pros. This visit includes a replacement of the hoses, valves, and gaskets underneath the hood as well. These components usually wear out at this time and must be replaced. Brake pads and rotors should be changed at this tune-up and the timing belt, if necessary.
90,000-Mile Service
The 90,000-mile vehicle service includes all prior services provided from tune-ups in the past. The hoses and belts are inspected for cracks and damages and the ignition system is also inspected and evaluated for trouble. The goal of the 90,000-mile tune-up is to ensure your vehicle is still operating efficiently, ready to provide another great 90,000-miles of service!
