To celebrate National Autism Awareness Month, Town East Ford has made a generous donation to the Dallas Autism Treatment Center. With expectations that it will affect one in every 68 children born this year, autism continues to be one of the widest spread developmental disabilities in the United States, and ATC's staff works hard every day to better the lives of those who are living with this and other related disorders.
Combined, more children are diagnosed with autism than diabetes, cancer and AIDS, so ATC's services are incredibly important, and they have a direct and positive impact on our community. The center specializes in speech, occupational and physical therapy, as well as diagnostics. Plus, they offer employment opportunities, vocational skill training, community integration activities and homes where daily living skills are taught to residents, so they can one day live independently.
Since 1976, ATC has been a beacon of hope for families and individuals affected by autism, and we're very proud to be a continued supporter of their cause.
