Most new Ford vehicles come equipped with a wi-fi hotspot that can be connected to up to 10 devices simultaneously and allow you to make and receive calls when it is in use.
To make use of this hotspot, you first need to download the FordPass app to your smartphone and activate SYNC Connect.
Once you have the appropriate apps on your device, it's time to connect to your hotspot. Make sure you're parked in a safe spot, start your vehicle, and touch "Settings" on the bottom right corner of your vehicle SYNC display. Scroll sideways until you find the "Wi-Fi & Hotspot" menu and touch the "Vehicle Hotspot" tab. Make sure the wi-fi hotspot is turned on, touch the "Settings" tab, and make a note of the Service Set Identifier (or SSID) name. You will need it later. Click the "Edit" button to verify that wi-fi visibility is turned on.
Now that you've turned on your hotspot, it's time to connect your device to it. Go to your device's wi-fi menu and try to search for your hotspot. The connection should appear as your SSID number. Your hotspot will have a default password that you will have to enter, but you can find this under your "Settings" tab on your vehicle's SYNC display. You can also change your SSID and password on the "Edit Wi-Fi Hotspot" screen.
That's it. You should now have an active wi-fi hotspot in your Ford vehicle and a device that can connect to it. If you have any questions about your vehicle's wi-fi hotspot or if you require any other service for your Ford vehicle, contact Town East Ford today.
