Ford is No. 1 Mainstream Brand in J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

Ford has set a new benchmark for 2026, earning the top ranking among mainstream automakers in J.D. Power's Initial Quality Study for the first time in 16 years. By concentrating on high-demand features in vehicle safety, cabin technology, and exterior design, Ford has captured high-profile awards across the board.

No. 1 Mainstream Brand

Looking back at J.D. Power's 2023 results, in which Ford ranked No. 15 among mainstream brands, the automaker's recent ascent is especially impressive. Ford now leads the mainstream sector. Jim Farley, Ford President and CEO, reflected on the milestone.

"This is a proud day for everyone at Ford and the result of years of intensive work across our company. Many doubted that an American company with a huge American workforce could compete with the world's best on quality, let alone reach the top. But we put our heads down and worked together every day to deliver for our customers." Farley noted, "Today, Ford is not only the most American automaker but also the gold standard for new vehicle quality."

Thomas King, J.D. Power president of OEM solutions, praised the individual vehicle wins, commenting, "The Ford F-150, Ford Mustang, and Ford Super Duty ranked highest in their respective segments."

In fact, seven of Ford's 10 evaluated vehicles earned top-three segment placements, reflecting consistent manufacturing quality.
