As the popularity of the Mustang MACH-E continues to gain momentum throughout Texas and across the country, it should not come as a surprise that the model has received national recognition. Town East Ford is pleased to let you know the model recently received the prestigious honor of being named Car and Driver's 2021 EV of the Year! It comes at a pivotal time with the innovative EV changes Ford is forecasting.
Unmatched Design by Ford Engineers
After three weeks of rigorous testing by Car and Driver, including a 1000-mile road trip to evaluate real-life road conditions, the MACH-E took the number one spot for exceptional driving engagement, irrefutable value, and practicality. The testing results fulfilled its mission better than any competitor. While the Mustang MACH-E is only the beginning of what Ford has planned for the revolution of EVs, the design by engineers is spectacular and one that the publication found fun to drive, which is perhaps the best description of the model.
According to Darren Palmer, Ford General Manager of Battery Electric Vehicles, the momentum by the automaker is a direct result of the continued success in the form of happy customers, sales, and awards. "[Ford] could have built a boring electric vehicle or a compliance vehicle; one that looks like a dustbuster," said Palmer. "However, we decided that drivers need an EV with soul. We built an all-electric vehicle that is disrupting the status quo." Palmer also added that the Mustang Mach-E GT and GT Performance Edition are still to come.
Customer-Centric and History-Making Future
Ford continues to receive valuable feedback from customers to grow and learn right alongside them. The future of EVs is safe in the automakers' hands. It was 1964 when the Mustang first took the nation by storm with its uniqueness. Now, 56 years later (and counting), the model still represents what is best about the American spirit, including freedom, inventiveness and progress, fast performance, and a slight touch of rebellion from the norm.
For the first time in almost six decades, Ford is expanding the Mustang lineup to include the all-electric Mustang Mach-E SUV, joining the sports coupe, convertible and special editions. The recognition by Car and Driver marks a celebrated and exciting moment. It underscores what Ford is striving to attain. The automaker is committed to an electric future and meeting the growing needs of its customers nationwide.
