What's New for the 2023 Ford Escape?
The Escape gets a comprehensive makeover for 2023, with new front and rear styling, the Sync 4 infotainment system, and a completely revamped lineup with new trim levels and significantly varied engine and equipment choices.
What Are the 2023 Ford Escape Trims & Features?
The 2023 Ford Escape comes in the following trims: Base, Active, ST-Line, PHEV, and Platinum. The Base trim has 17-inch steel wheels, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, a wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system, and cloth upholstery. The Active trim features 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome exterior trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a satellite radio.
The PHEV adds 18-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel and front seats, partial vinyl and cloth upholstery, and a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen to Active's features. The ST-Line also builds on Active's features and adds underbody skid plates, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and roof rails. The Platinum trim is the top of the line, adding a universal garage door opener and synthetic leather upholstery to the standard feature list.

How Much Horsepower Does the 2023 Escape Have?
There is the plug-in hybrid engine variant of the Escape PHEV. It has a continuously variable automatic transmission and a 210 horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. Front-wheel drive is used as there is an all-wheel drive option. It can run on electric power for roughly 37 miles on a fully charged battery before switching to standard gas-electric hybrid operation. The 14.4 kWh battery pack may be recharged in 3.5 hours using a Level 2 charger or in 10-11 hours using a 110-volt home outlet.
A 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automated transmission and 180 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque powers the Base, Active, and ST-Line versions. There is an all-wheel drive option.
All-wheel drive is standard higher models, which upgrade to a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. However, Ford also offers a fuel-efficient 2.5-liter hybrid engine in higher trims, which uses a continuously variable automatic transmission.
What Safety Features Does the 2023 Escape Include?
Ford's Co-Pilot360 system is standard on the 2023 Ford Escape. It also has blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and forward collision warning.
